1 pound = 20 shillings
1 shilling = 12 pennies (pennies or pence is plural from penny)
1 farthing = ¼ of a penny
1 halfpenny (hay-p’ny) = ½ of a penny
1 half-crown = 2 shillings and 6 pence
1 crown = 5 shillings

a Sovereign = a 1 pound coin made of gold
a quid = a paper pound
a copper = a penny (after the metal it was minted from)
a guinea = 21 shillings or one pound and 1 shilling. (A guinea was considered a more gentlemanly amount than £1. A gentleman paid his tailor in shillings, but his barrister in guineas.)
a bob = 1 shilling
